Climate
M Our business impacts the climate, both directly via our operations and indirectly via our supply chain. Oriflame is present in countries that are already experiencing the severe effects of climate change, which motivates us to take action to reduce our impact.
We are committed to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2019 base yar. Oriflame also commits to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions 22% per unit sold over the same timeframe.
We implemented a company-wide emissions reduction programme in 2010 and in 10 years’ time we managed to reduce our absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 76% (in Scope 1, Scope 2 and parts of Scope 3).
We are continuously working to increase the use of renewable electricity across our business. Our goal was to use 100 % renewable electricity in all Oriflame operated buildings by 2020. We achieved this target two years ahead of schedule by purchasing traceable renewable electricity in all our markets. We have matched our electricity consumption with Guarantees of Origin (GOs) in Europe and with the International REC Standard (I-RECs) on other continents. The origin of this electricity is a mix of wind, solar and hydro. We have had solar panels installed at our wellness factory in India since 2014.
We have been climate compensating for all our Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019. In addition we have also been compensating for parts of our Scope 3 emissions. We do this by purchasing carbon credits in reforestation and forest conservation projects in India, China, Mexico, and Indonesia. By balancing our emitted emissions with an equal amount of climate-reduction initiatives and carbon credits, we are climate neutral in our operations (Scope 1 & Scope 2), but we have not yet achieved full company-wide climate neutrality.
