We follow a stringent multi-stage safety process to give us confidence that every product is not only safe, but fully compliant with the latest international safety regulations and industry standards.
We apply the EU safety standards for all cosmetics globally. – these are the strictest safety standards in the world and the gold standard industry benchmark for consumer safety. We also choose to go further by restricting any ingredient that we feel may be a cause for concern.
In nutrition, we strictly adhere to all EU and local safety standards to ensure the safety of nutritional products.
Supplier integrity
To ensure the safety and quality of ingredients, we choose to work with reputable suppliers, and only select those ingredients that are fully supported by robust and transparent data.
Internal ingredient assessment
Assessment of cosmetic product safety is carried out by our own experienced toxicologists and microbiologists that work in-house in R&D. More than 1,500 individual ingredients undergo a rigorous review to meet strict criteria and ensure safe concentration levels before being used in development.
Risk assessment
To deliver robust risk assessments, our experts also consider the safety of the formulation as a whole, as well as the profile of the intended customer. Extra measures are taken to ensure the safety of children who use our products.
Independent testing
We employ independent specialist laboratories to test our cosmetic products with skin models or adult human volunteers. Clinical tests are carried out under the supervision of qualified medical personnel. This testing is standard industry practice for safety evaluation and is widely accepted as a robust, safe and ethical alternative to animal testing.
Post launch
Our commitment to safety continues long after our products are launched – we carefully monitor markets for customer feedback once a product becomes commercially available.
Trusted suppliers
We only use reputable suppliers and contractors that meet our strict criteria for quality and sustainability. Our suppliers are regularly audited and certified by international food safety standards, such as HACCP, BRC, IFS, and FSCC.
Safety review
Each ingredient undergoes a rigorous safety review before being used in our supplements and products. We do not promote mega dosing ingredients and upper limits are not exceeded, to ensure safe everyday consumption.
Risk assessment
From the moment a concept is created for a new product, we perform a risk assessment to identify potential quality and food safety risks. We then implement controls to prevent any risks or hazards occurring before development even begins.
Independent lab testing
We work with a number of accredited external lab partners to deliver high-quality testing to verify that our products meet our carefully designed specifications, guaranteeing their quality, safety, and compliance.
Shelf life testing
Our products are subjected to stability testing during development. This process verifies the product shelf life and guarantees they maintain their quality, ingredient/bioactive level, and safety throughout this period.
Our product formulations have an environmental impact during production, as well as during and following consumer usage. If not responsibly formulated, they may have a long-term impact on people and ecosystems both up and downstream in our value chain. This is why we need to take the right decisions regarding which ingredients we select as part of the formulation development.
Our product packaging has an environmental impact, both during production and disposal, and can contribute to the pollution of land and waterbodies downstream in our value chain, affecting ecosystems and local communities, including their human rights.
