The skin-body-mind connection

The science of Beauty & Wellbeing

The human body is a complex, interconnected ecosystem in constant communication with our internal and external worlds.

This makes the ageing journey unique and personal to you, spanning not only physical and social dimensions, but emotional and environmental ones too.

In Oriflame, we champion a holistic approach to beauty and wellbeing that emphasises the most influential factors affecting your skin, body and mind. One that is guided by expertly-curated advice, firmly rooted in science, on the things that matter most – from beauty routines to sleep, from nutrition to self-care, from movement to stress management and much, much more.

Our research into the science of beauty and wellbeing explores this skin-body-mind connection and the interaction and influence of lifestyle and environment. The aim is to uncover key insights in scientific territories critical to beauty and wellbeing, such as longevity science, hormonal ageing, neuroscience and the microbiome.

Our goal is to provide targeted and personalised beauty and wellbeing solutions that improve self-image and positively impact feelings of happiness, empowerment and self-esteem.

Our research on skin ageing & wellbeing

We launched our skin research initiative, Age Reflect, as part of our commitment to understanding the skin health and ageing footprint of consumers in key Oriflame markets. The study examines how different facial features, such as wrinkles, redness and pigmentation, influence the perception of age, and how lifestyle impacts the health and ageing of skin. Up to the present, we have conducted research in four countries with more than 1,000 participants.

Our research has deepened our knowledge of what drives age perception. Not only can we better appreciate the skin journey of ethnically diverse populations, but the crucial insights revealed by this research help us create modern, intelligent skincare solutions tailored to the needs of our consumers globally.

Oriflame innovations

With multiple registered patents to date – our scientists share a passion and commitment to creating and delivering innovative solutions within the wellness and beauty areas.

Here you can learn about four Oriflame-patented bioactivating technologies that feature in the advanced skincare range, Novage+.

Oripeptide-3

Oriflame’s patented Oripeptide-3 is a bioactivating technology that combines three purified peptides from natural extracts of rice, wheat and yeast. On their own, each peptide benefits the skin – but when combined, there is a proven synergistic effect.

Oripeptide-3 slows ageing in cells and regenerates and de-stresses the skin, making it more resilient, less fragile and with fewer lines. It contributes to more resilient and youthful-looking skin.

Bio: Lumilock

Bio Lumilock was developed after 10 years of research. Derived from orange peel, Bio Lumilock visibly reduces dark spots and brightens skin faster than Vitamin C and is more gentle than Kojic acid.

By ‘turning off’ the three most important pathways that regulate pigmentation and disrupting pollution-led cell ageing, Bio Lumilock delivers brighter, more even and visibly radiant skin.

Bio: Aspartolift

Bio Aspartolift harnesses the power of aspartic acid, an amino acid found naturally in the body, and rebuilds the skin’s architecture from the inside. It delivers retinol-like benefits but is kinder on the skin. It combats loss of firmness and elasticity in tired, ageing skin to make it act as if younger.

Bio Re:Barrier

Bio Re:Barrier is derived from a combination of two natural ingredients – black crowberry fruit and birch bark. Scientists in Oriflame discovered that combining these ingredients delivered an impressive restructuring ability that strengthens the skin barrier better than Niacinamide, helps regulate cell turnover and prevents hyaluronic acid and collagen breakdown.

Bio Re:Barrier restores radiance and moisture to the skin, resulting in a more youthful and vibrant complexion.

Formulation and Packaging

Our product formulations have an environmental impact during production, as well as during and following consumer usage. If not responsibly formulated, they may have a long-term impact on people and ecosystems both up and downstream in our value chain. This is why we need to take the right decisions regarding which ingredients we select as part of the formulation development.

Our product packaging has an environmental impact, both during production and disposal, and can contribute to the pollution of land and waterbodies downstream in our value chain, affecting ecosystems and local communities, including their human rights.
